Beginning in the vibrant city of Kolkata, the tour explores colonial heritage, artisan quarters, and spiritual landmarks before traveling by train to Bhubaneswar. Discover the architectural marvel of Konark Sun Temple and the sacred atmosphere of Puri before venturing into the remote tribal regions around Rayagada and Jeypore. Day 01 – Arrival in Kolkata – Colonial Heritage Introduction

Arrival at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. After a traditional welcome by our representative, transfer to your centrally located heritage hotel.

Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta, was the capital of British India until 1911 and remains the cultural heart of eastern India.

In the afternoon begin an introductory sightseeing tour of the colonial district including a drive past the iconic Howrah Bridge and a walk around the grand gardens of the majestic Victoria Memorial, one of the finest examples of Indo-British architecture.

Continue to the impressive St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Maidan area, often referred to as the “lungs of the city”.

Day 02 – Kolkata Cultural Immersion

After breakfast begin a comprehensive cultural exploration of Kolkata.

Start early at the colorful flower market near the Hooghly River, one of the largest in Asia, where thousands of marigold garlands are traded every morning. Proceed to Kumartuli, the famous artisan quarter where sculptors craft clay idols for festivals such as Durga Puja.

Continue to visit the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, the Mother House, where the tomb of Mother Teresa is located.

Later visit the historic Dakshineswar Kali Temple situated on the banks of the Hooghly River.

The afternoon includes a walk through College Street, home to India’s largest second-hand book market and historic intellectual cafés.

Unique Cultural Experience:
In the evening participate in a Bengali cooking demonstration in a local family home, learning to prepare dishes such as fish curry, lentils, and traditional sweets.

Day 03 – Kolkata to Bhubaneswar by Train

Early breakfast and transfer to the railway station to board the semi highspeed train to Bhubaneswar.

Enjoy the scenic journey through rural Bengal and Odisha countryside.

Bhubaneswar, known as the “City of Temples,” once had more than 700 temples dating back over 1,000 years.

Afternoon sightseeing includes:

-Lingaraj Temple – the largest and most important temple in the city

-Mukteshwar Temple – famous for its exquisite stone arch and carvings

-Rajarani Temple – noted for its intricate sculptural details

Visit an Odissi dance academy where students practice this classical dance form. Guests interact with dancers and watch a short demonstration explaining hand gestures, expressions, and rhythm.

Day 04 – Bhubaneswar – Konark – Puri

After breakfast drive along the coastal highway to the legendary Konark Sun Temple.

Built in the 13th century, the temple represents the chariot of the Sun God with intricately carved stone wheels and horses.

Continue to the heritage craft village of Raghurajpur, where local artists specialize in traditional Pattachitra paintings, palm leaf engravings, and wooden toys.

Later proceed to Puri.

Visit the sacred Jagannath Temple, one of the most important pilgrimage centers in India. Non-Hindu visitors can view the temple complex from a nearby platform. Enjoy time at Puri beach.
